- Bachelor of Laws Degree, University of Western Ontario (1980)
- Master of Laws Degree, Osgoode Hall, York University (2003) (ADR)
- Practicing law in Collingwood since 1982; as a sole practitioner since 1998
- Father of four children, all grown and living independently
